INTRODUCTION

As an introduction to Architects Vision’s article, This article will be talking about how the camera -which is in my opinion a window to the viewer- can affect the architects vision and creativity, and it is a machine was invented to make photos, photos means stories, so by this machine a lot of stories can be told, by photos or films, films like movies, series, documentaries, etc… so the first section of this article will be talking about the camera and how it is a tool to see the world differently. And the second section will talk about the Human Scale Documentary and how by this film many solutions were created, and by sharing it online it gives chances for many places to change by giving inspiration to the architect’s vision.

1.SECTION

Firstly I would like to shortly define what the word “camera” means; it is a box that can make images  by that it means also it is a piece of tools that is used for taking photographs, making films. And by its amazing function, it became a main tool to use in our daily life. Anyone and anywhere can use a camera, to capture a moment to last forever, to take a happy memory, or for example to save a data and details of stuff that the brain ca not always remember in its all existed details.

By talking about the styles of the photography that the photographers use in our daily life, there is different styles the person can choose as he prefers, as what he loves to capture. Some captures portraits, some captures festivals, weddings, art, streets, and a lot more… and last but not least I want to mention the architectural photography style; the same thing goes with the films, like there is documentaries, dramatic, action, series, movies or short movies, etc…

At all the styles, some main techniques are defined and by the photographers and filmmakers in a number of ways to connect with the audience by images. For instance, the center of the lights, movements and techniques of the camera are manipulated to be used as an instrument and as a means of conveying the meanings or to make it suitable between moving from one shot to another. It is through the camera moves that can affect the audience to get a special reaction about what is displayed in front of them. (al-Din, 2016; Hashem, 2017) .

  1.  SECTION DOCUMANTERY: THE HUMAN SCALE (Andreas Dalsgaard, 2012)

By this documentary we will see what is it talking about, and how they have used their architectural vision to solve the architectural and the urban problems and having a result as the best solutions, not to mention how much sharing this on the internet gave a chance to many people to connect from different locations around the world. and it gave the opportunity for every architect who have watched this documentary -or something similar to this documentary in general- to have a global thoughts, and to connect many useful solution in the architects mind to have a wider vision to have a better lifestyle in the future.

So The Human Scale Documentary has 5 chapters, mentioned that 50% of the world’s population lives in urban areas, and that will rise to 80% by 2050. This is big stuff, and some of us are more prepared than others. The failures of American urban planning in the 20th century are well documented. The Obsession over cars was not a good idea, suburbs were worse, and the attempts at public housing often went badly.

In the 20th century the struggle to provide large numbers of people with proper housing, work spaces and transport led the modernists to create large systems of high-rise buildings, and high ways. Today we face oil crises, traffic, climate change and severe health issues (psychology and physically) as a result of our modern lifestyle. for 40 years he studied human behavior in cities. His starting point was an interest in people, more than buildings This lead to studies of how human beings use the streets, how they walk, see, rest, meet, bike, interact etc. and find solutions to let people go out from their private places to the public space. In Chongqing, China, the authorities have copied the Western city model extensively and in a huge scale but the people are doubting this solution. However, for example In Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka the problems are even more pressing. Extreme city growth rate combined with poorness, the option of a repetition of the modern Western city model is not even available. There are simply too many people, and not enough space.

In another hand, In New York Times Square has been transformed. Previously dominated by cars, the square has now given room to pedestrianized areas and chairs, where people hang out and chat in the sun and enjoy the city life. Inhabitants are cycling down Broadway on bike lanes. A small revolution has happened, inspired by surveys made according to Gehl’s ideas. They revealed that 90% of the space was taken up by cars, while 90% of the people were pedestrians.

So shortly, this documentary has mentioned many view points, problems and solutions, which are mind blowing for how nicely they have transformed the same area to a different and a much better one. Lucky us that we can see what is happening in the other side of the world thanks to the great invention called camera.

CONCLUSION

As a conclusion, we can relate that how if there was no invention such as camera, we would never be able to share this wide ocean of information with other people as much as it is shared now. So the camera gave the individuals a great chance to be connected with each other even if they are not in the same location or even if they are living in a different time. I believe the future life has a basic relation with the past. Past means years ago till yesterday, and so this relation will be continued till forever, that is why camera is a main tool to save data so the other generations can use it. And lastly, The Human Scale Documentary, it can be an inspiration how the human brain should be working and it helps to look out the box, and by watching many other things that have been shared and filmed so they gives a large chance to change the limited vision to limitless one, to find architectural solutions for many urban problems that we are facing at the present time.
